This Old Hong Kong photo was taken on March 29, 1972 by Mr Hung Cheung Kong from a helicopter. Mr Hung used medium format Hasselblad film camera, so resolution was very high.
Central. The heritage building was the Central Post Office. The white heritage structure was the Central Fire Station, demolished in 1982, which has since been replaced by the Hang Seng Bank building. To the left of the Fire Station was the Realty Building, later renamed Wing On. The reclamation site is now Exchange Square.
In front were the Hong Kong & Yaumatei Vehicular Ferry Pier and the Central Harbour Ferry Service Pier, both demolished in 1995.
These piers were situated on land that has since been filled in to accommodate the International Finance Centre.
Exhibition in Central Building Oct - Dec 2025. Exhibition size was 60x60cm.
