Duncan Wong roams the streets and alleys of Hong Kong, as well as its rural corners, offering a perspective that may differ from our everyday experiences. Armed with a camera dedicated to black-and-white photography, he observes with his “photographer’s eye,” occasionally pressing the shutter — sometimes spontaneously, sometimes deliberately. Yet overall, his approach leans towards the random. (Perhaps all photography involves varying degrees of randomness.) This unspoken, instinctive randomness seems to be an intentional method, or even an attitude, conveyed in this collection.
Duncan Wong
A native of Hong Kong, he worked in information technology in financial institutions and focused on black and white photography. “Indulge" is the first published personal photography album, which captures Hong Kong city images from 2019 to 2024.
About 20 years ago, before social media became popular, there were many photography online discussion forums. By chance, he shared the photos he took daily with a lightweight portable camera, under the title “Indulge”.
